Short Description
A fully funded 3-year PhD position is open at La Rochelle University and Université Gustave Eiffel, focusing on the corrosion mechanisms of steel reinforcement in concrete structures located in coastal and humid environments. The aim is to develop advanced electrochemical methods to monitor corrosion and assess durability in real conditions.

The research will involve both non-destructive electrochemical techniques and destructive analyses, supported by state-of-the-art tools such as Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and electron microscopy. Experiments will be carried out on concrete specimens exposed to real environmental conditions (marine immersion, humidity, temperature cycles) as part of a national research program involving several partner institutions.

Candidate Profile
Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in materials science, engineering, or a related field, with strong knowledge of electrochemistry. The position requires mobility between La Rochelle and Marne-la-Vallée, strong experimental skills, and good communication in French and English.
