TH Köln is a University of Technology, Arts and Sciences. It shapes social innovation with its disciplinary and cultural diversity and openness and makes substantial contributions to solving societal challenges. A community of teachers and learners, TH Köln sees itself as a learning organization that breaks new ground – for example, as one of the pioneers nationwide in the development and design of new academic teaching concepts.

The range of subjects covers the fields of Applied Natural Sciences, Architecture and Civil Engineering, Information and Communication, Computer Science, Engineering, Culture, Society and Social Affairs, and Economics. Some of the over 100 Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs are available as dual degree or part-time options, in addition to the full-time model. As a place for research-based learning and scientific education, the university also supports early-stage researchers through cooperative doctoral projects. Every year, around 5,000 students embark on their studies at TH Köln. A total of 27,000 students from around 120 countries together with 440 professors and a further 1,400 employees contribute their potential.

Research focuses on future issues such as climate change, energy supply, food security and demographic change; researchers work together across the disciplines to contribute their specialist expertise, develop solution strategies and shape the most important issues of our time. In this context, they work closely with local, national and international cooperation partners, including many universities abroad. The university offers its researchers an attractive working environment. The EU Commission recognized TH Köln’s international standards in human resources development with the “HR Excellence in Research” seal of approval.

In scientific advanced training, TH Köln also draws on its quality and promotes the skills and   personal and professional development of individuals interested in advanced training, employees and those returning to work. The quality management of scientific advanced training is certified according to DIN ISO 9001 and ISO 29990 (learning services for basic and advanced training).

TH Köln networks internally and maintains close relations with other universities not only in the German higher education area, but also internationally. With approximately 352 international partner universities, TH Köln offers a wide range of opportunities for student and research mobility.

In addition to being part of UAS7, an association of seven high-performing Universities of Applied Sciences in Germany, TH Köln is also a full member of the European University Association (EUA).
